Sediment, heavy metals and hydrocarbons are the largest water pollution sources in the United States waterways. Typical conventional treatment methods require the addition of various chemicals to break oily emulsions, precipitate heavy metals, coagulate, flocculate and condition sludge. Using the Floc ™ one step method, the entire treatment process can be accomplished by the addition of Floc ™ directly to the wastewater stream. Floc ™ can remove oils, grease, surfactants, dyes, inks, coolants, solvents, heavy metals and suspended solids from wastewater. Floc ™ causes encapsulation of oils and greases, removal of other organics by partition and chemical bonding, as well as removal of heavy metals by precipitation, ion exchange and chemical bonding. The result is a dense non-leachable sludge which normally passes the TCLP (Toxic Characteristic Leachate Procedure) test.

A variety of methods are employed to introduce the Floc ™ clay based flocculant into the water. The three methods most used are:

1. Direct feeding the dry flocculant directly into the wastewater via a Hopper/Auger Feeder System
2. Introduction of Floc ™ Bags or Floc ™ Socs into retention basins, pipes or ditches, etc. which dissipates out slowly into the water introducing the flocculant over time
3. The addition of Floc ™ Bags or Floc ™ Socs to current SRDs such as wattles, straw bales, silt fence by tying or zip tying the bag or soc to the SRD
